This I Believe....

I believe the heart is a rose whose petals start as a bud, but gently over time open up and bloom to be something stunning and beautiful. Remember those days back in grade school when you would do things without a second thought to them, when there was nothing scary about being friends with boys; when it was completely, utterly, disgustifying and you had to turn your head during movies because someone in the movie was kissing? That is when the heart is still a bud, fully closed up for the beginning spring months of March, April, and may.
But then in June when you hit sixth grade or so, your mind and thoughts begin to change, your heart starts to open up a tiny bit. Now is the time you start to have the cute little crushes and you no longer have to turn your head away or cover your eyes at the 'disgustifying' moments in movies and life.
Every month it gets to bloom a little more until it's completely open to the idea of love, in August. Holding relationships, sharing special moments, that's what growing up is all about, right? Right. Exactly. Finding that special someone for the time being, and then everything's all great and happy, going fantastic until about November, when they crush everything. Those petals that had just started to open up fall off after after a while, once you've let them go.
Then in December, January, and February, all the way up until March again, you're just mending the wounds and staying closed and away from relationships. it's the shy stage all over again until you finally meet some new great person and you become friends. Next you develop the crush, then fall in love. All over again.
I believe the heart is a rose, a never ending rose of beauty, growing stronger, stable-er, steadier, and happier every time a new petal opens. No matter how many petals fall , you just have to remember, you will always have more to open up to later on in life.
The heart is a rose that blooms and grows a little more each month, revolving around love.
